As the sun shone down on the busy campus, a group of students made their way down a wide walkway. In the front, a boy and a girl walked side by side, their heads bent over a workbook. They seemed deep in discussion, and the occasional smile or nod suggested they were making progress on whatever task they were tackling.
Behind them walked another boy, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his denim jeans. He watched the pair in front with a mixture of misery and frustration on his face. It was clear he liked the girl, and seeing her so comfortable with the other boy was tearing him up inside.
He couldn’t help but feel jealous. He knew he was smart and capable, and he wanted to be the one helping the girl with her work. But he also knew that he had been too shy and uncertain to make his move. Now, as he watched them from behind, he felt a pang of regret.
Using Emotion Recognition Technology, we were able to accurately capture, identify, and analyse the emotions of the students in the video. With advanced algorithms, we were able to identify and interpret that the boy in the denim jacket was feeling miserable, frustrated and annoyed (boy’s emotion state represented by green dot on the Circumplex model on the top-right of video). Our technology is capable of recognising and interpreting even the subtlest changes in facial expressions and body language, providing insights into the emotional states of individuals in real-time. The video clip is done in slow motion, allowing for a clearer view of the changes in emotions as the scene unfolds.
