Opsis and DBS Foundation Launch SenseWell: Pioneering AI Mental Wellness Tool for Social Services

In a bold leap forward for mental health innovation, Opsis Emotion AI, in partnership with the DBS Foundation, has unveiled SenseWell, a cutting-edge AI-powered mental wellness assessment tool that could redefine how social service agencies approach mental health screening and support.

A New Paradigm in Mental Wellness Assessment

Unlike traditional mental health assessments that rely heavily on self-reported questionnaires—such as PHQ-9 and GAD-7—SenseWell taps into the power of artificial intelligence to analyze facial expressions and emotional cues. This shift provides a more objective and non-intrusive method of evaluating mental wellness, especially useful for populations that may struggle with repeated self-reporting or are less inclined to verbalize distress.

Targeted Rollout: Free Trials with Social Service Agencies

In its initial phase, Opsis has rolled out SenseWell to a select group of social service agencies on a free trial basis. It has demonstrated interests across a variety of use cases:

  1. Active Ageing Centres (AACs): SenseWell enhances existing services—centered on physical and social engagement—with an added layer of mental wellness monitoring. It brings a more holistic view of ageing, recognizing that mental health is just as critical as physical health.
  2. Family Service Centres (FSCs): The tool empowers frontline workers to identify individuals and families at high risk for mental disorders, allowing for earlier intervention and more targeted support.
  3. Counseling Centres: SenseWell is being used as a non-verbal, tech-enabled screening tool during intake and exit sessions, adding valuable data points to assess client progress or continued risk.
  4. Case Management: Social workers and case managers can now assess and track the mental wellbeing of both beneficiaries and caregivers, supporting more nuanced and empathetic care plans.
  5. Community Outreach Events: Whether it’s a mental health fair or a pop-up booth at a community centre, SenseWell enables quick, on-site assessments, making mental health support more accessible and stigma-free.

A Vision Backed by Purpose

The collaboration with DBS Foundation underscores the product’s social impact mission. DBS Foundation has long championed innovations that uplift vulnerable communities, and its support of SenseWell highlights a shared commitment to leveraging technology for good.

“Mental health is the silent backbone of well-being. With SenseWell, we aim to normalize and elevate the conversation around emotional resilience in everyday community settings,” said Andrew Ow, CEO of Opsis.
